Equine Self Expression has several announcements

Writer: Debbie DaviesDebbie Davies

As many of of us are in the midst of a deep freeze, it is good to remember that in no less than 33 days we will be turning our clocks forward and gaining that ever so welcomed, extra hour of daylight.

Until then, we at Equine Self Expression are busy planning and scheduling the many events that we have lined up for this year. The first of which is the relocation of my 4 horses from Missouri to their new, beautiful facility in Indiana. We are busy getting the well dug for the new barn, and the fencing will be up within a couple of weeks. It is a lot of work, but very exciting and a life long dream come true. We have a little more inside construction to complete in the new barn but that should be done through spring, and our state of the art lecture facility will be up and running for our summer lectures and workshops. For now, my horses along with the training horses, will be moving into the training barn where our lovely indoor arena is. So much excitement as we embark on this transition.

We have several other thrilling announcements to share with you. The first is that we are pleased to have our 2021 calendar complete, and this can be found on our web site https://www.equineselfexpression.com/schedule. If you have any questions about the schedule or would like to host an event, please contact Carissa Sorrenson at equineselfexpression1@gmail.com.

The second and perhaps the most exciting announcement ~ drum roll~ is that our first on-line course is now available on our on-line university and educational platform. This has been a long time coming and something my clients, followers and friends have been requesting for an incredibly long time. Online learning, can at times be laborious and uninspiring if it does not readily challenge and stimulate the student. After a year of research and planning, my team and I have put together an extraordinary, online learning university that will hopefully capture your interest, address all learning styles and fill the holes that you know you have, along with those you may not know you have!

It has been an exhilarating ride, putting this platform together and we still have a lot of classes that we will continue to be adding to the university, but we would like to announce the launch of our very first one, beginning March 15, 2021. There are many different ways to create an online educational class~ videos, zoom, lecture, written content, as well as considering the duration of each workshop. For our first introductory workshop, we are offering a 30 day experience entitled, "Straightness is not a Means to an End". This has been a phenomenal class to put together as there are so many beliefs about straightness, what it is and how to achieve it. In this introductory course, I have put together three themes relevant to the understanding of this concept and each day through the 30 days, content will be delivered to your email and you can log in to you classroom page and experience the days learning at your leisure. A workbook will be available for download to accompany this workshop, which will only take approximately 15 - 30 minutes per day to read, watch and explore. You will receive one video per week to accompany the course and two live zoom sessions, one mid course and the second upon completion of the 30 days. This is one of the formats we will be offering for our university learning, along with month long workshops that can be downloaded and studied at the students convenience and live online seminars and workshops that students can also participate in. You will definitely want to stay tuned for these courses. You have requested them and given us the topics that are of interest to you, and we listened! It is our honor and privilege to serve you and the horses we love, in this additional way.

Last year it was so inspiring to see how many platforms of learning that were made available to all of us who want to learn. From online learning, to zoom workshops and podcasts, there have been so many opportunities. On that note, I am privileged to have been interviewed by the amazing Alicia Harlov, founder of The Humble Hoof Podcast. I invite you all to listen to the launch of that podcast on Friday February 12. In this interview, Alicia and I will be speaking to the relationship between mechanics and riding, and the equine hoof. You won't want to miss this informative 45 minutes ~ I will also be offering promo codes for available content on our Equine Self Expression web site.

So my friends, there is a lot to share with you in the upcoming months and I am so grateful to have this opportunity to learn, grow and teach. The journey we are on as horsemen and women is an ongoing, continuous and life-long journey of learning, growing and sharing. It is the noble horse that brings us together and joins us in the community of inspiring education, and a fulfillment that our beloved horses unconditionally offer us. We are truly blessed to have them in our lives. To learn from them, grow with them and be enriched by them.

During these last months of winter may you find warmth inside when it is cold outside; light within to illuminate your learning, and lots of warm, fuzzy horse noses to nuzzle those cold hands, awaken the warm heart and remind us of the gift we have in the horse.

Until next time friends, enjoy your learning from the inside out...

Debbie
